Getting back into my capturing my journey of #chasing25, I thought I would start with a little note on the spiritual side of the story.
At the core of who I am is an incredibly flawed person. I struggle at times in always doing the right thing. Knowing this, I gave up my pursuit of being perfect a long, long time ago. Now my goal daily, is to be a better version of myself today versus yesterday. I have found that with this approach, I am much more successful in actually achieving the goals I set for myself.
Lest, I should sound like have it all together, I (along my wife) can assure you that I do not. I say this to people who ask and I write this on any “about me” section on a resume or social site: It is only by God’s grace, love and mercy that I am able to enjoy the life I have. It is only through His blessings that I am who I am today.
Now I’m sure that some reading this have no belief in God, Christ or religion in general. Honestly, I can’t help you with that and won’t try to convince you otherwise by writing a few sentences or paragraphs on why you should. It’s not a mind decision that needs to be made, belief comes from a heart conviction that is between you and God. The only thing I can tell you about is my personal walk or journey with Christ over the last 34 years.
I am not a Bible scholar by any means but I do know a lot about the Bible and rely on it daily for guidance. However, I can’t explain to you how creation took place or how it was possible for Jonah to be swallowed whole by a fish. What I can explain is that there is a peace within in my spirit when I’m in alignment with Christ and His will for my life.
I have documented here how I got started on this #chasing25 journey I’m on from a physical side and now would like to outline my plan for continue my development from a spiritual perspective. Currently, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I post at least one picture or video while I’m at the gym as a way of holding myself accountable to put the time in on a consistent basis.
So, going forward, starting the week of January 1, I will be posting about the things I’m learning as I begin studying the New Testament in a new way. I am going to start with Paul. I have a couple of biographies about him that I will be using in conjunction with the Bible.
I honestly don’t know how all of this will look moving forward but can’t wait to get started. I hope you will join me in this journey and please know I am inviting you, as always, for you to share your insights, comments, questions, etc.
For now, I pray that all who read this will experience Christ during the next several days as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. May each of you be filled with His peace, His grace, His love and His mercy. Merry Christmas to all!
Peace and thanks for reading.
