In 2018, beginning in April, I begin documenting my physical transformation through blog posts and then mostly just to Instagram. I called the journey – #chasing25. I will continue capturing the journey via IG but want to focus my writing in 2019 on a spiritual journey I’m calling The Gospel, Paul and Me. Over the last year or so I have really not been focused on my spiritual walk with Christ. Yes, I’m still saved. Yes, I still go to church and yes, I still pray throughout my day.
But I haven’t really focused on studying scripture and/or taking what I’ve learned and applying it to my daily walk. Along with my physical focus I want the next year to be one where I see just as much spiritual development as I do in my physical appearance. I haven’t fully decided how I am going to pursue this endeavor yet but I thought it would be fun to share this journey with others.
My hope is that during the year, some of you will join me as I make my way through the year to share your personal insights, reflections and study habits as well. I am big believer in collaboration and sharing. One thing that is evident throughout the scripture is that our lives our meant to be shared with others and that through community, we can enrich the lives of those we journey through life with.
I have three areas I want to explore. Why three? No idea but this is where I’ve landed. The Gospel part of this is me wanting to dive in specifically to Luke, Mark, John and Matthew from an individual standpoint to study each one in depth. The Paul portion of this is that I am just fascinated by his personal journey through the landscape of his life. I don’t want to write a biography on him but rather explore the countless number of books that have been written about his life.
Lastly, the and Me piece of this is to simply journal/blog about my discoveries as I travel through the next year. My goal is to be 100% transparent in sharing the good, the bad and the ugly from my walk with Christ but I make no promises. As I stated earlier, my prayer is that there will be people who will be willing to share in this journey with me next year by commenting their view points, struggles, victories and discoveries as well.
So in preparation for kicking off this study at the end of next week, I am studying the early years of Paul, reading as much as I can from multiple sources about what the early life of Paul was really like. Until then, be safe this weekend and I hope you all have wonderful New Years. Remember to count your blessings, even in the midst of strife, we all have lots to be thankful for.
Peace and thanks for reading!
