What you see is what you get. I am 52 years young and in November will celebrate 30 years of marriage to my best friend. My wife Lisa, is simply an incredible, beautiful lady full of joy and love! Together, we make a pretty awesome team.
I enjoy watching my kids grow and am continuously amazed by them! I love my wife and children greatly! As Lisa’s husband and the father to 4 incredible kids, I try to walk a little closer with Christ each passing day. And I do understand that it is only through God’s grace that I enjoy the life I have. I am a blessed man.
I accepted Christ at the age of 19 and spent the better part of the next 10 years trying to figure out what it meant to be a Christian. I have concluded that calling yourself a Christian holds no real value unless you learn to be a follower of Christ. I still, really have no idea what it means to be a Christian but I am learning daily what it means to be a Christ follower. The reason I started this blog was to capture my thoughts, experiences, discoveries, etc. as I walk through this life. And if by doing so, I can help others along the way, that would be an added blessing!
Lisa was 19 and I was 22 when we married. Less than a year later we were blessed with our first of four children. Kymberly was followed a year later by Andrea with Kyle coming 18 months after her. Ryan was the last of the four when he was born in September of 1993. So, at the age of 27 and 24 respectively, we were a house of 6 and truly relying on God’s grace and mercy to see us through! Through what appeared to be unfortunate circumstances, God used to provide me with a job in the printing industry that would ultimately allow my wife to stay at home with our children and provide a homeschool education through 8th grade for all of them.
For the first 10 years of our marriage, Lisa and I lived in something like 10 different homes. The journey took us all over the metro Atlanta area before God made a way for us to move to Jacksonville, FL. where we lived for 13 months before moving to Palm Harbor, FL. in 1998. Those 10 years were a whirlwind for me. Between trying to learn what it meant to be a good husband, good father and a sole provider for my family, and do so while trying grow in my relationship with Christ was a struggle at best. Throw in the fact that we averaged moving once a year, it is a wonder that I didn’t go crazy and I assure you, at times, I thought I was.
I made the statement earlier – I do understand that it is only through God’s grace that I enjoy the life I have. I am a blessed man. God was incredibly patient with me during this time and placed some incredible people in my family’s life, specifically some strong, faithful, Godly men who poured into me their wisdom and life experiences which helped me to become a better man.
My hope was that Palm Harbor would be the place that our family would remain forever but God had other plans for us. I fought God hard over the fact that I knew he was calling us away from Florida but finally, in April of 2003, we returned to Georgia to take up residence in the quaint small city of Sugar Hill, GA. I am so glad that we were obedient to follow God’s path, for the last 9 years have simply been incredible and God has blessed our family beyond my comprehension.
I will share more of Lisa’s and my journey in the months to come. In the mean time, if you have any comments or questions about anything, I would really love to hear from you.
As far as About Me currently: I love Life and EVERYTHING about it. The trials, tribulations, joy, laughter, tears, anxiety, peace, ups, downs, I just love life!! Books, Music, Movies, I can read, listen and watch just about anything once. I love to play golf and could never play enough of it. If you want to know a person’s character, play a round of golf with them! I love to teach and coach. There is something extremely gratifying in being able to help others achieve!
Above all else however, I strive to grow in my relationship with Christ each day and by doing so, continue to become a better husband for Lisa and a better father to my children!
